A man allegedly trying to make a bomb in a pickle jar was
arrested Saturday morning in Peace Park on State Street.
Patric J. Olson, 20, no permanent address, was tentatively charged with obstructing a police officer and a probation hold following his arrest at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
Madison police went to the park after reports of a drunken man threatening people and trying to make a bomb.
"Police found a pile of pickles and a liquid stain (likely pickle juice) on top of a stone bench," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.
The pickle jar sans pickles had batteries and other things inside, but none of the items appeared likely to explode, DeSpain said.
"The suspect was talking loudly about blowing everyone up and killing police," DeSpain said.
The suspect gave a fake name to police, hence the obstruction charge.
"Police found a half-consumed 1.75-liter bottle of vodka inside his knapsack," DeSpain said.
Gotta love the fresh and clean look and feel.

Wow, what a great rendition of Kanye West's song "Heartless". Check out William Fitzsimmons on iTunes and his web site: WilliamFitzsimmons.com.
This by FAR the best rendition of this song I have heard. Blowing that American Idol kid's version out of the water!
